A Routine Expedition

in Things I Hate

So, that Land of the Lost movie.  It was certainly a movie based on Land of the Lost.

If your enjoyment of  such a film is predicated solely on repetition of the theme song of the Sid and Marty Kroft show, three characters named Marshall, Will and Holly, Sleestaks, dinosaurs and Chaka, then you will no doubt be satisfied with the effort.  If you are a die-hard Danny McBride or Will Ferrell fan, I suspect the same assessment stands (die-hard Anna Friel or Jorma Taccone fans will not fare so well, methinks).  It is not so much that Land of the Lost is bad as that it has a limited supply of goodness that you have already been exposed to if you have already seen the trailers.

The film is unambitious and very squarely okay.  I even laughed a few times. However, if you believe that mediocrity is the greatest sin a film can commit, you would be well advised to stay away.  Otherwise, it is better than watching the Friday the 13th remake or watching reality TV or getting hit in the head with a claw hammer.
