Prior to seeing The Invention of Lying, I’d read some uncharitable reviews of it. The third act is tenuous, I heard. Broad satirizing of Christianity dominates the latter half of the movie, I was told. The premise, even, has flaws in its execution.

Okay, I know it’s Saw, and that I should manage my expectations about subtlety accordingly, but if I said I wasn’t slightly put off by the movie’s ham-fisted A plot about how health insurance companies are so evil, I’d be lying.
