You know, I started doing FCS so that I’d always have to post at least once a week on a set schedule. I think I do okay, but this is the second week I’m late. Out of 5 months worth of posts. Shit – five months already? This is going to be post 113, by the way – my previous blog was around for over 4 years and only had a little over 500 posts.
Anyway, cover songs. Today, we’re going to turn back the clock with covers of two ubiquitous 90s hits. And also a cover of Single Ladies. I know, I know. It doesn’t fit the theme at all, but Beyonce had one of the best albums of all time! OF ALL TIME!
Maximo Park – 500 Miles (The Proclaimers cover)
Black Kids – Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover (Sophie B. Hawkins cover)
Pomplamoose – Single Ladies (Beyonce cover)
I normally post these with some implicit editorial approval, but I’m still not 100% sold on the Maximo Park song. I mean, how you can you not love that Proclaimers song? It’s a cool, transformative take on the song, but damn does it muck around with the chorus. The other songs? I’m pretty okay with the other songs.
