Christina Aguilera may have faded into obscurity and Britney Spears may have become a mentally ill sexual deviant, but cover songs will always remember them at their best. Here are some covers of these mid-90s pop powerhouses from some unlikely sources.
Elvis Costello – Beautiful (Christina Aguilera cover)
Keane – Dirrrty-licious (Christina Aguilera/Beyonce cover)
Yael Naim – Toxic (Britney Spears cover)
Franz Ferdinand – Womanizer (Britney Spears cover)
I am sure that I’ve missed your favorite “Womanizer” cover; forgive me. All-American Rejects, Lily Allen and Ladyhawke all turn in some pretty noteworthy interpretations of what may be the catchiest Britney Spears song of all time…of all time. And, criminally, there are no covers of “If You Seek Amy” floating around that I’ve heard. Or “3.” If you know otherwise, link to them in the comments for me.

I confess to listening to “Ooops!I did it again” as a guilty pleasure.
Of course, when I sing along I ad-lib increasingly disturbing things she has done (“Oops!I did it again/I ate human flesh/it tasted so fresh!”) so that’s probably all right. :D
So, I think all these covers are improvements on the originals. As Steiner would say, that’s bad, isn’t it?
I think the best performance of Beautiful is the one in Mean Girls. Just saying.
If you think these are good, wait until you hear the She Wolf cover I have planned for this Friday.
And yes, Steiner would say that’s bad.
