To really make a sequel to The Expendables work, you need to go back to the visceral premise that got people out to see the first one and either make it bigger or deliver on it better.
If you’re going to make a sequel to The Expendables, you have to pit Sylvester Stallone’s team of action star mercenaries against Arnold Schwarzenegger and his team of action star mercenaries.
They also have to be able to top the spectacle of a burning man being punched in the face or a shotgun that can make half a person disappear into a fine red mist (over and over and over again).
